Trend Alert: Denim Daze.

When I first started seeing denim in forms of vests, jackets, blazers and shirts I was kind of confused. It made me instantly think of the 80's and 90's.  Kelly from Saved By The Bell, Tapanga from Boy Meets World. If you're a 90's child I'm sure you understand this. I instantly refused to hop on the denim train. But now I'm starting to realize that I love it. It's a classic, fun addition to any outfit!
There are so many different ways to wear a chambray shirt, denim vest or jacket.  Pair a vest with colored skinny jeans or cords. Wear white jeans with a chambray shirt and a statement necklace. The possibilities are endless.
I have found some of my favorite denim picks from various companies.  Being a poor college student, I can't exactly afford to buy all of these. But I do promise you that when I have ownership of my first denim shirt, vest, or jacket, you will be the first to know and see it!

Let me know what your favorite denim picks are! I hope you enjoy mine!

The Be-All Buttondown - Anthropologie $78

Denim Vest in Workwear Wash - J. Crew $98

Washed Chambray Buttondown - Anthropologie $88

Sparkle & Fade Leather Collar Chambray Shirt - Urban Outfitters $59

Blue Velvet Chambray Button Down - Free People OR Swank Boutique $118

A great idea for the Anthro chambray would be to get the pocket monogrammed! I love getting any oxfords or blouses branded with my initials. A monogram always makes anything more enticing.

The denim craze seems like it's here to stay, so I'll be shopping soon to find the right fit and style for me! I wouldn't mind all of these picks though... (Early Christmas presents will be graciously accepted!)

The perfect gift idea.

My best friend from Florida visited me recently and it was amazing to see her due to the fact that I had not seen her in over a year! I've had a long week with my senior year starting and still recovering from my surgery so when I came home to a package from Sarah it put the biggest smile on my face. She knows me better than anyone and of course she knew I would love any gift that was monogrammed.

Unfortunately, my camera broke during Sarah's visit so I had to take a picture of the gift on my awful phone! (I am FINALLY getting the IPhone on September 1st!! Can't wait.) Enjoy!
This clutch has a cross body strap in a gold chain link! The tan leather goes so well with the gold script monogram. Sarah knows that I love flamingos and Lilly Pulitzer so that koozie is perfect!
Sarah got my gift from Loli and the Bean in Tallahassee, Florida. You can also order the monogrammed clutch from the website Preppy and Pink. They have a great selection of monogrammed things that would be great for gifts!

I love picking out gifts for friends and most likely they always receive something monogrammed. This present from Sarah is the best combination of classy and preppy. I can't wait to use the clutch on my dinner date tonight, and the koozie during football tailgates!

Great monogram gifts ideas are towels (I gave those to all my friends our senior year of high school as a graduation gift!), purses/wallets, necklaces (Moon and Lola is the best), phone cases, lunchboxes. The list is endless!
A great 21st birthday present for a girlfriend could be a monogrammed wine, martini, or shot glass!

With a broken camera, it is hard for my to take pictures of outfit ideas and other various monogrammed things but I will do my best to keep posting!

I hope everyone is having a good end to their summer! Cooler weather will be here before we know it. Layers, scarves, leather, corduroy, etc! I love Fall fashion!

Sure, I'll block some color.

I feel like the colorblock trend has been around for a a few seasons now and I still love it. The thing I find funny about this trend is the fact that back in gradeschool when I would dress myself, I would proudly do colorblocking but obviously it wasn't really very trendy and put together. But now that I'm 21 and I decide to pair an orange shirt with a blue skirt, it's okay. It's the trendy colorblocking, not the '8 year old I'll just put anything on' colorblocking.
There might be some limitations to colorblocking. I don't advise you wear a red shirt with pink pants (Please, just don't.) I like pairing warm and cool colors together.  The contrast is eye-catching and shows that you're adventurous with your style.
This is another post that will include the walking boot, so just know your colorblock outfit will look much better than mine since you won't have a clunky, grey, boot on.

Warm on top, cool on the bottom. I was afraid this look was going to be too much, but I think that can always be a thought that crosses someones mind when attempting colorblocking

Necklace and Ring from Swank Boutique. I wear my 'E' sunburst pendant necklace all the time, it looks good with any outfit!

Cool, Calm, Colorblock.

Colorblocking is a bold fashion move but don't let it every shy you away from doing it! Everyone can pull it off in their own way.

How to Dress Up a Boot.

I wish this was a post all about Fall boots, but unfortunately it is not! I recently had foot surgery last week and have been limping around on a walking boot and crutches.  I still wanted to keep you all entertained so I decided to carry on with my blogging regardless of the boot. But don't worry, I have a an obsession with Fall and Winter boots and they seem to be HUGE this year so I can not wait to stock up on all different styles and colors!
Watercolor prints are extremely popular right now and from what I've been reading they're not going out of style anytime soon.  When I found this skirt at Anthropologie I knew that I had to have it.  Being six feet tall it is always nice to find skirts that aren't super short! I have always loved Anthro and it's always been a dream to get a job working corporate for them when I graduate (cough cough if any Anthro workers happen to see this).  The mix of purples, yellows, and pinks make this skirt great for Spring and Summer.  I also know that I can wear this into Fall with black tights and a blazer!
I also have been trying to accessorize more with my outfits since I usually wear little to no jewelery. I still have a long way to go before I look like some of those awesome pictures on Pinterest, but I've made my start and I can only get better!
Enjoy!

Showing off the walking boot in perfect style! I'm obsessed with how the skirt flows and the gorgeous colors.

The pink blouse is just the right blend with the colors in the skirt.

A mixture of colors in the bracelets just add to the colorful skirt! The black and white bangles are from one of my favorite jewelery boutiques in St. Louis, Melanie's!

Tory Burch sunglasses and pearl earrings are always a favorite and perfect addition to any outfit.

The skirt is on sale right now at Anthropologie! Hurry and order before they're all sold out! I would definitely recommend ordering a size down, it runs a little big! I will most likely be pairing a belt with this outfit the next time I have it on!

I hope you all have a great week! Summer is coming to an end, but there are so many good things to look forward to in Fall: Football games, leaves changing colors, apple picking (Growing up in the Midwest, I'll always love it!), crisp, dewy walks in the morning before class, the list is endless! And of course shopping for Fall and Winter clothes is always fun! Scarves, sweaters, jeans, oh my!

The Ultimate Hair Bling.

I was first introduced to Deepa Gurnani head wear when I started my job at Swank Boutique.  It did not take long before I was drooling over the beautiful head pieces.  Each piece is handmade in India, making them all different and unique. The prices can start at $38 and run up to $250, but I think it is worth the price.  It the perfect way to add that instant flash to any outfit. They can be worn across the forehead, on the crown of the head, or as a regular headband.
You can order them from Swank Boutique or Shop Bop. The Deepa website features their biography, press releases and you can preview their newest items.

Here's some examples of Deepa!

 Sporting my Deepa in DC!

Hair clips are perfect for date night or formals!

Paris Hilton rocks her Deepa!

So many different styles and colors!

Simple (or as simple as Deepa can get) with black, silver, gold and white!

The Crystal Loop headband is one of my favorites!! Buy it here.

I will definitely be purchasing more Deepa headbands for fall.  They're perfect for going out, formals, or even to pull your hair back during class!
