So Red Hot Right Now.

Hello Fashion Lovers!
I'm back and so excited to bring you new posts all about initial items, the latest trends, and a few other inspiring reads!

****
This post will be dedicated to the sultry red lip trend that is bigger than ever right now.  I've never been one to wear large pops of color in my makeup but I decided to take a leap a faith with this trend....and I absolutely love it!
I purchased the Aqua Rouge Make Up Forever Lip Stain from Sephora.  It is great because it is waterproof and gives you the longevity of a lip stain but a beautiful shine finish of a gloss.
Oh yeah, did I mention it comes in 16 different shades?! Purchase one (or three..or five!) on Sephora's website.

Try a dark shade of plum like Kate Bosworth!

A seductive cat-eye paired with a red lip is perfect for evening makeup.

Some basic tips for wearing red lipstick:
-Avoid deep reds if you have thin lips, it can sometimes make lips look smaller

-Don't try to wear a red lip liner with a red lipstick. If you would like to use a liner, have it be a neutral shade that is close to your lips.  You don't want to end up with a two toned red lip.

-To prevent bleeding from the lipstick apply concealer around the border of your mouth

-Consider the lighting you will be in.  If it will be outdoors go for softer, lighter shades; if you'll be at an evening event go for something more darker and bold.

Have a great week everyone! Leather jackets, plaid scarves, fur vests and oxblood colored denim are all good picks for outfits!

Sassy in Studs.

Fall is here, but winter is quickly approaching.  I can easily say that I am not the biggest fan of cold weather but I am enjoying all of the Fall/Winter trends this year! Lace, brocade, layering, embellishments, and so many other great things! I wish I had an exciting life to have a good excuse to buy a handful of holiday dresses. Until all of the holiday fun starts, I will still be picking out my normal outfits for school, work, and just life in general.  I have been in the process of cleaning out my closet (yes, it desperately needed to happen. Mom, you should be so proud) and I found this gem of a jacket that I had completely forgotten about.  Side note: when you find pieces in your closet that you have forgotten about, that is the perfect sign that you need to get rid of some clothes.
I bought this jacket at the usual spot, Swank Boutique. I am still surprised that I like it so much because studs are SO out of my comfort zone. That's the wonderful thing about fashion, I can jump out of my comfort zone for today and be back to my monogram necklace, pearls and a sweater tomorrow. I purchased the jacket this summer so they are no longer available.  Find other amazing Fall jackets at Urban Outfitters, J.Crew, and Swank!
I added the striped tank from HandM to mix up the textures from the jacket with the fun, pop of the stripes.  The skinny jeans were a random buy from Old Navy. They're almost more of a jegging but I have been living in them! They're so comfortable and I am impressed at how well they have been holding up with the mileage they're getting.  The black booties are from Target and they are one of the most comfortable boots I've had.  I love Target shoes because they carry size 11!
Enjoy!
So sassy and happy in this studded beauty!

I decided to layer my monogram necklace with a longer 'sunburst' pendant necklace.  The pendant has the letter 'E' engraved on it but I decided to face it the other way to layer it! The necklace can be found at Swank Boutique!

My beautiful roommate's pug, Rocco! If you have the opportunity to adopt a pet, DO IT! It is the most heart-warming, gratifying experience.  If you're in Columbia check out Columbia Second Chance. I adopted my cat through them and they are a great shelter.

I am obsessed with this monogrammed wayfarers I have from Dixieland Monogram!

Rocco must have seen a squirrel...

I feel like I have to show off my Halloween costume...it's a little delayed but maybe someone will get inspiration for next year!

Tinkerbell and Peter Pan!

I bought the green romper at the one and only, Swank Boutique! I added on the bells and whistles from there. The glittery gold tulle belt was made from a simple Hobby Lobby purchase. I glued the big, white poms poms onto an old pair of gold flats! I'd say we pulled it off well! What did you dress up as this year? I want to know!

I would like to apologize for the major delay between posts! It has been a very busy semester but I am now getting the ball rolling again for you guys! More posts will be coming soon! I hope everyone has a very happy Thanksgiving!

Cold but Comfy.

The weather is getting cooler and with that I'm loving the freedom I have with my outfits! Layering, boots, cordurouys, the list is endless for fall fashion. I always prefer to be comfortable while sitting in class or at the library for multiple hours during the day.  This was easy to accomplish when I decided to wear my burgundy brocade printed cords from Ann Taylor Loft. As I'm sure most of you are, I am obsessed with the color burgundy! I want sweaters, leggings, hats, etc. all in the color burgundy. It goes well with any color hair or skin tone, which is  pretty much any girls dream. Let me know what fall purchases you have that are burgundy!!
I paired the pants with an oversized camel colored sweater from Banana Republic and wore a chambray shirt from Ann Taylor underneath. My black equestrain Vince Camuto boots went perfectly and then I topped it off with a black beanie!
Enjoy!

Look for a post later this week! I'm doing a giveaway with Swank Boutique!

Make New Friends but Keep The Old...

I recently had the opportunity to help out a friend and former roommate with a project and it was so much fun! He is a very talented student in the Journalism school at Mizzou and had to do a project recreating a print advertisement for the Bree illuminated handbag. He asked me to model for the pictures and we did it at 8 am the morning after a football game....how I was able to wake up for this, I am still trying to figure out. If I ever do something like this again, I will not be tailgating the day before so my face does not look so swollen and my eyes are able to fully open.
I got to see my friend's final project yesterday and I was SO impressed! He did an amazing job and I was so happy I could help him out.  His photographer friend, Sally is extremely talented as well and I am so happy to have had the opportunity to meet and work with her!

I went with a French Connection sweater dress in a forest green color that I purchased recently. I probably should have worn tights(or gone running a few times more leading up to this)...but I obviously was not thinking straight due to the early wakeup call. I paired it with a grey faux fur vest to add just the right amount of diva.  My black Vince Camuto riding boots and a tortoise pendant necklace from Banana Republic topped it all off perfectly.
Enjoy!

The bag I used for the photo shoot is from Swank Boutique! I purchased it over the summer, but they recently got in some AMAZING and super affordable fall clutches and purses!! If you're in Columbia, you'll have to check them out!

I have ordered my sample pack from Dixieland Monogram as part of the Campus Representative program! I can not wait to show it to all of you!!! Earrings, bows, and monogrammed jackets, oh my!

****

I hope to be getting more posts up soon of cold weather outfit ideas, especially for class! It can be tough trying to dress fashionably but still wanting to be warm and comfortable on the walks to class!

Yesterday I made a spur of the moment decesion to cut my hair...what do you think?!
(Instagram is my newest obsession!)

Have a great weekend tailgating, spending time with friends and family, and thinking of Halloween costume ideas! I still need to figure mine out, if you have any suggestions let me know!

Sassy Skirt.

Fall has officially arrived and I have to admit that I am absolutely loving it. I will forever love Florida weather, but I did miss the leaves changing colors and the crisp cool mornings walking to class while I was at Florida State.  I also did not realize until this year how many outfit options you have throughout the Fall months.  Layering, boots, scarves, jeans, the possibilities are endless.

I got the inspiration for this post from overhearing a girl in class yesterday talk about how she had to wear a uniform while attending an all girls high school.  She said that although she liked not having to worry about an outfit in the morning, she would sometimes get bored of wearing the same pleated skirt and collared shirt every day.  I loved when she said that girls would monogram their skirts to make them individualized. I attended a public school and always had the freedom to wear whatever my heart desired (with some limitations obviously).  But hearing about pleated school girl skirts made me remember I had a black skirt very similar which led to my inspiration for today's post.
Enjoy!

I recently bought this jacket at the Swank Boutique Semi-Annual Sale, I'm obsessed! Love the color, the way it hangs, and the parachute pockets!

Love these booties that I recently bought from Target. I wear a size 11, so when I find cute shoes in my size, I always have to buy them!

I recently bought this acrylic 'E' necklace at a boutique in St. Louis. They sell them at Swank Boutique or you can order them online from Moon and Lola!

This leopard print scarf flowed perfectly with the jacket and the pleated skirt.

Ta-Da! My version of a school girl skirt outfit!

Let me know your ideas for a school girl skirt outfit!

I received great news yesterday that I am the official University of Missouri Campus Representative for Dixieland Monogram! I can't wait to plan events and show everyone the super cute and fun monogram products that they carry! Let me know if you have a sorority, campus group, or just a group of friends that you want to get together to see products and purchase some!

Also - Something exciting is in the works with Swank Boutique for a giveaway! More information coming soon, but I highly recommend that you get very excited for it!

Crunching Numbers and Staying Classy.

For as long as I can remember I have idolized my older sister.  She was always cool, calm and collected. I actually have to give her credit for fueling my obsession with monograms and fashion.  Although we have different styles now, I will always love my sister's polished, 'J.Crew' look.  Since high school Jenna has dressed conservatively and preppy. This continued during her college career at the University of Virginia.  Her closet is filled with pieces from J.Crew, Banana Republic, Anthropologie, etc. Her job as an accountant does not give her much room in regards to dressing fashionably for work, but on weekends she puts together some memorable and charming outfits.
With my residence being in Missouri and my sister being in DC, I asked her to take some pictures of her favorite monogrammed items as well as other pieces from her closet.  Maybe you'll get inspiration from her pieces, I know I do!

Prim and Proper in Lilly Pulitzer.

Precious Polka Dots from Anthropologie.

Living it up in Ireland in a colorful scarf, Michael Kors watch, and comfy Patagonia fleece.
University of Virginia, Wahoowa! Adorable monogrammed tote bag in her school colors, such a cute gift idea!

Winter necessities - plaid scarves and an over sized leather tote.

Monogrammed iPhone case from Lipstick Shades.

More monogrammed totes - love the neon green on the blue!

So many pretty necklaces. The big pearl 'J' is the same one I wear all the time! It is from John Wind Jewelry, find it here. The pearl necklace is from a farmer's market in Charlottesville! Both monogrammed necklaces are from boutiques in St. Louis, Melanie's and Apple of Your Eye.

Loafers have always been in style in my opinion, but it seems that they'll be bigger than ever this Fall. You can also never go wrong with Tory Burch flats!

Kate Spade purse - I always have to borrow this when I visit her!

A little out of her comfort zone, but she bought this at Urban Outfitters ( I convinced her to) and I know she'll get so many compliments when she wears it out this Fall!

Cutest shirts from J.Crew - both would look great with colored corduroys or jeans!

Perfect ensemble with skinny jeans and boots! Sweater is from Ann Taylor and the button-up is from J.Crew.
A birthday present received from me, the cutest wall monogram! Find one for yourself at the Pink Monogram.

Simple yet classy outfit for work. White lace skirt and a navy top.

I hope to do more closet raids in the future! It's always fun to see my friends and family's distinct styles.

Academic Apparel.

I'm back! I'm sorry for the long break between posts! My senior year has started and with it I have hit the ground running. Leading the blog for the Association of Textile and Apparel Management, working at Swank Boutique, trying to still maintain a social life, and keeping up with school work I have had very little time to do anything else!
After being a full-time athlete for so many years, I am relieved to be able to attend class with dry hair and not smell like cholorine.  I can actually take the time to look decent for class which I think is always a good thing.  I don't see a point in wasting a closet full of great clothes to only wear on the weekend! I've also talked to my professors in the Textile and Apparel Management (fancy name for Fashion Merchandising) department and some have told me they can not stand it when they see girls wearing gym shorts and a t-shirt to class. Now,  I'm not trying to say that we should all be wearing skirts, cardigans and Mary-Jane's to class. I just believe that it looks so much better and more professional when people take the time to get ready and not show up with half-curled hair from the previous night and smeared mascara or an oversized sweatshirt with leggings and Uggs (spare us all, please).
Also with the weather finally cooling down, I can pack away my shorts and pull out my jeans, boots, sweaters and scarves! I loved the warm weather year-round while I was attending Florida State but when I moved back to the Mid-West it made me remember how much I love dressing for cooler weather.  You have so many more options with outfits.  Layering, beautiful colors (burgundy, jade, taupe), tights, turtlenecks, and the list goes on!
I chose my outfit today based on the fact that this morning I looked out my window and was disappointed to see gloomy weather so I decided to brighten my day up with my attire. Enjoy!

I found these eye-popping red pants at Gap and knew I had to have them for Fall.  I can't wait to pair them with some boots and a chunky sweater! The pants are so soft and comfortable! Find them on the Gap website here.

I found this blouse at Ann Taylor Loft and loved it. It's simple and chic. At first glance it looks like little black polka dots, but they're actually tiny stars! The tuxedo style with the ruffles adds just the right amount of feminine touch. The blouse comes in Navy, Red, and White, order it here.

These black flats are perfect for walking to class. They're easy and comfortable.  I've recently become obsessed with Yosi Samra Flats which have a durable rubber sole and can fold up and be thrown into a tote or backpack if needed! You can find them at Swank Boutique or on the Yosi Samra website.

I think a black or khaki trench coat can add such a classy, polished look to any fall outfit! I wear mine all the time! I love the coats at Banana Republic. Check them out here.

I hope everyone had a great end to their summers and are enjoying the transition into fall! Football games, bonfires, apple picking, haunted houses...the list is endless of fun fall activities! I would love to hear ideas from you for things to do!

Also, I'd love to see or hear about your daily outfits!

Have a wonderful week, maybe you can enjoy your first caramel apple of the season!
